We believe there is a longing within every individual to overcome the trials, pains, and difficulties of life.

Our mission is to encourage a broken world and offer hope to overcome through Jesus Christ. We believe there is a longing within every individual to overcome the trials, pains and difficulties of life. We believe that longing is answered and fulfilled in the person of Jesus Christ.

With a vision to establish individuals to be overcomers in Christ, the family and friends of Bethany Hamilton, a world-class professional surfer who lost her arm to a shark bite at the age of 13, formed the Beautifully Flawed Foundation a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization (EIN 32-0220098).

Jesus said, “In the world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

Our Core Values

The core values of the Beautifully Flawed Foundation reflect a deep commitment to faith, compassion, and personal growth. They emphasize caring for those in need, honoring each person as uniquely created by God, and empowering individuals holistically: physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

At the heart of the Beautifully Flawed Foundation is a commitment to genuine care and empathy. We recognize that everyone carries wounds, whether seen or unseen, and we strive to meet individuals where they are with kindness, understanding, and support.

Respect for Our Beginnings

We aim to convey a sense of Bethany’s healthy, active lifestyle in each of our programs.
Her resilience, faith, and commitment to living life fully despite challenges continue to inspire the spirit behind our mission. We design our retreats and events to reflect that same sense of purpose, encouraging participants to embrace life with courage, strength, and a deep trust in God.

We empower those we reach to be their best in all areas of life.
We believe true transformation happens when we care for the whole person: mind, body, and spirit. Our programs are designed to nurture emotional healing, physical well-being, and spiritual growth, recognizing that each aspect is deeply connected. Whether through outdoor activities, meaningful conversations, or faith-based teaching, we aim to equip individuals to thrive in every part of their lives, not just during our events but far beyond them.

We seek to treat all individuals as important, honoring each unique person as image bearers of God and for their specific skills and giftings.
As Romans 12:10 encourages us to “outdo one another in showing honor,” we seek to create a culture of honor in all that we do.
